Welcome to the Hickory Choral Society public website.
The Hickory Choral Society raised its collective voice for the first time in 1978, touching music lovers in the Catawba Valley with the spirit of song. Today, some 120 singers blend their voices in harmony, brought together by a common devotion to musical excellence.
The work of the Hickory Choral Society is a testament to the belief that each person, regardless of station, should be allowed to share the divine, universal gift of music and its immeasurable rewards.

Founded in 1978 under the direction of J. Don Coleman, the Hickory Choral Society has performed some of the world's finest choral literature thoughout the state of North Carolina and as far away as New York, London and Edinburgh. An all-volunteer chorus of some 150 voices, its singers come from a variety of interests and
backgrounds and from distances as great as 75 miles in order to produce a
distinctive, high-quality choral product which thrills audiences everywhere.
From sensitive interpretation to powerful delivery, the Hickory Choral Society
truly brings something special and exciting to choral music lovers in the
Catawba Valley...and beyond.
The heart and soul of Hickory Choral Society is its singers. Today, some 150
singers blend their voices in harmony, brought together by a common devotion
to musical excellence. Our members come from all over the Hickory Metro Area
and from a variety of professions. Many of the singers are, or have been,
professional musicians, and those who are not have had considerable training
and experience in the music field. Auditions for new singers are held each
